The April 2013 issue of InStyle is bursting with color. No surprise, since it is their annual “Color” issue. What makes this issue even more special is the beautiful pictorial of Thandie Newton. This is her fourth feature in InStyle US. Her first was in 2002, just after she had filmed “The Truth about Charlie.” This latest appearance by Thandie is to promote Rogue, her new TV series.
Thandie captivates you in every photo with her statement jewelry, smoldering makeup, and intricately detailed dresses made from delicate fabrics. This is a departure from her usual “less is more” philosophy, yet the style team’s combinations are gorgeous! Kay Montano, Thandie’s friend and makeup artist, described the shoot as:
“A fun day channelling Marisa/Jerry/Bianca/Studio54 on beautiful Thandie Newton”
Studio54 was the hottest nightclub in New York during the late 70s and early 80s. The fashion and style of this time was about lots of makeup, bright hues and sparkles galore. As you will note below, Thandie’s look and poses blend seamlessly with 80s models Jerry Hall and Bianca Jagger. Stylist Kate Sebbah, Makeup Artist Kay Montano, Hair Stylist Peter Gray, and Photographer Dusan Reljin have done an excellent job! My favorite look is the sequined silk dress by Missoni (above). The turquoise and hot pink are so vibrant and look great against Thandie’s skin.
InStyle’s Color issue hits the newsstands on March 15th. Grab a copy and let me know which look you like.
